#therealworld# is known as #greatisland# ('the great island') by mist dwellers. Beyond the edge of the mist is the void.

The ruins of the Isle of the Chosen lie in the mists, off the shore of the Grey Ocean, under the starless void.. Long ago some men aided the elves in a war against dark gods and demons from the void. They were given spiritual strength, though sadly not sufficient to stand up to centuries of insinuation by the dark secrets they returned with. When the downfall came many became spiritual monsters of cruelty and vengeance (see Wraiths) or mindless slaves of reawakened dark powers. A few who saw the horrors unfolding fled back to the physical world and, while physically stronger (spirit), they are generally shunned by common folk (and those who know their history).
Dangerous to fey. Spirits cannot pass it, and it can cut them.
Dangerous to earth creatures. Strands of mist densely woven into a physical form. Allows Spirit to be used against earth creatures.
