Hereafter referred to as the 'GM'.
In this system the term 'character' refers to any in-game personality. This might be a character played by one of the people at the table (a 'player character', or PC), the innkeeper at the tavern where the story begins, or even a gruesome monster. Characters controlled by the GM are known as Non-Player Characters, or NPCs.
Where a value is declared as a Limit the limited value may not exceed the Limit.
eg. Weapon Size is limited by Physical Strength; no matter which kind of weapon a character with PS1 wields, even a greataxe (Weapon Size 3), it will only grant a +1 to the characters damage.
Where a value is declared as a Restriction the value plus the restricting value may not exceed the characters theoretical maximum for that value.
eg. A character's armour acts as a Restriction on their Physical Agility, which can never be higher than 5; A character wearing Heavy Armour (armour value 3) treats his PA as no higher than 2 for all rolls ( 5 - 3 = 2).
Note: These do not change the characters actual value, only the amount that may be applied to rolls - the character's value may still be higher for other purposes, eg. taking injuries.
